Jean-Michel Basquiat (born December 22, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York, died August 12, 1988) - American contemporary artist. At first he practiced graffiti, later he took up painting, he was a representative of new expressionism. His paintings were characterized by a combination of primitive African art, modern "street art", inscriptions, elements of comics and cultural archetypes.
